We don't want your data
No accounts, no sign-up, no quote form. The only thing measured is anonymous, aggregate traffic so we know which cost pages people need, and you can switch even that off on this page.
What this site collects
Nothing that identifies you. Detailing Cost is a static site. There are no accounts, no logins, no comments, and no contact form. We never ask for your name, your email, your phone number, or your address, and there is no database here to keep them in.
The calculators
Every calculator on this site runs entirely in your browser. The vehicle you pick, the tier you choose, the area you enter: none of it is transmitted anywhere. It's arithmetic on your own machine, and it's gone when you close the tab. That's also why there's no "email me my estimate" button. We'd have to collect the email to send it.
Cookies and local storage
This site sets no advertising cookies of any kind. The only cookies it can set are Google Analytics' own first-party measurement cookies (names starting _ga), and only when analytics is on for you: on by default outside the EEA, the UK, and Switzerland, and off until you opt in within them. You can turn it off anywhere in the Analytics section below, which also clears those cookies.
Separately, the site stores one thing in your browser's local storage: your light-or-dark theme choice, saved under the key theme, so the site doesn't flash the wrong colour at you on your next visit. That value never leaves your browser and is never sent to us. Clearing your site data removes it, and the site works fine without it.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to see which cost pages readers actually use, in aggregate. It runs through Google's Consent Mode, so consent is set by region: on by default outside the EEA, the UK, and Switzerland, where first-party analytics needs no prior opt-in, and off until you accept the banner within them. We send Google no advertising signals, so it can't use this to personalise ads or build a cross-site profile of you. Nothing here identifies you by name, and there's still no account, no form, and no email on this site.
Prefer to opt out, in any region? Use this switch. It takes effect immediately in this browser and turning it off clears the analytics cookies.
Server logs
The site is served by Cloudflare, which processes requests and keeps standard operational logs, including IP addresses, for security and abuse prevention. That's infrastructure common to most of the web rather than anything we've added, and we don't query those logs to identify visitors.
Links off this site
Some outbound product links are affiliate links, which means the retailer can tell the click came from here. What happens after you land on their site is governed by their privacy policy, not ours. Amazon in particular will know you arrived via our tag. Details are on the disclosures page.
Your rights
Rules like the GDPR and the CCPA give you rights to access, correct, or delete personal data a site holds about you. We hold none, so in practice there's nothing to request. If you believe otherwise, or you have emailed us and want that correspondence deleted, write to hello@detailingcost.com and we'll delete it.
Changes
If this ever changes, for instance if we add analytics or a newsletter, this page changes first and says exactly what's new. We won't quietly start collecting something and update the policy later.
